Job summary

Ladder is seeking an Applications Security Engineer to own vulnerability management within a JVM-based stack while embedding with development teams. This remote role is based in one of Ladder's 23 US states and supports shift-left security and active cloud protection.

You will mentor engineers on secure coding, participate in risk reviews, and help ensure compliance across the engineering org in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering or cybersecurity experience.
• Hands-on JVM environment experience and code reading.
• Experience securing modern cloud infrastructures and incident response.
• Ability to operate in dynamic, scalable environments.
• Baseline certs such as CompTIA Security+; CISSP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Secure the code by partnering with development teams on vulnerability management and remediation fixes.
• Security Ops: monitor cloud posture and respond to threats in real time.
• Governance & risk: perform security reviews and risk assessments for architectures, vendors, and APIs.
• Protect the workspace: manage IAM, device compliance, and secure productivity tooling.
• Drive technical excellence: mentor engineers on secure coding and secure defaults.
