Akima is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer for a remote, full-time role focused on applied engineering for a novel advanced reactor design. The position allows travel to INL, with monthly visits, and runs for 6 months with potential extension.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree with 8+ years or MS with 6+ years in mechanical engineering.
• US citizen required.
• Remote work with monthly travel to INL, Idaho Falls.
• Experience with precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and modeling.
• Familiarity with ASME codes (B31 and BPVC).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on reactor design.
• Design and evaluate mechanical systems for high-temperature reactors.
• Document design to meet codes and standards.
• Oversee fabrication and procurement per design.
• Maintain configuration management of assigned systems.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance in design.
