Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking an experienced Angular/NodeJS Developer to join our Veterans Affairs team in a 100% remote capacity. The role centers on building cloud-based dashboards, RESTful APIs, and healthcare data integrations using Java, NodeJS, Angular, and AWS.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in software development with strong back-end and front-end skills, including EDI/healthcare data experience. U.S. citizenship is required; HIPAA familiarity and DevOps practices are a plus.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience with strong back-end focus (Java/NodeJS)
• 8+ years designing and consuming RESTful APIs in healthcare or enterprise environments
• Experience building back-end services that serve structured EDI/healthcare data to front-end
• Hands-on Angular experience with API integration
• Strong back-end development in Java and JavaScript/TypeScript/NodeJS
• Experience with Angular or another modern front-end framework
• Experience building RESTful APIs that transform structured data (XML, JSON)
• Hands-on Cloud (AWS/Azure) experience including API Gateway, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch
• Proficiency with Git/GitHub and collaborative workflows
• Experience with unit/integration testing (JUnit/Jest)
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration
• Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and JIRA
• U.S. Citizenship required for this position
• Experience with remote U.S. based teams is preferred

Responsibilities

• Build, support, and migrate a cloud-based Web Dashboard processing healthcare EDI transactions
• Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs in Java and/or NodeJS
• Integrate with internal platform APIs and data services for live and historical EDI data
• Support and contribute to an Angular-based dashboard front-end
• Collaborate with C#/.Net and AWS data engineers for API contracts
• Write clean, testable code and participate in code reviews
• Perform unit and integration testing across back-end and API layers
• Support deployment, monitoring, and performance on AWS
• Apply best software engineering practices within Agile
• Use Git and GitHub for version control and collaboration
