Job summary

Twilio is seeking a Staff Engineer for the Voice and Video Android SDK to design and deliver scalable Android SDK features that power our customers' communications. You will own architecture, drive architectural roadmap, and collaborate with iOS/JS/React Native teams to ensure cross-platform convergence.

The role is remote-first and expects leadership in code quality, testing, and developer experience while partnering with product and platform teams to meet ambitious roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Android software engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in Android SDK development and third-party SDKs.
• Experience with real-time communication technologies (WebRTC, SIP, RTP) preferred.
• Proficiency in Java/Kotlin and C++.
• Familiarity with CI/CD systems and mobile build pipelines.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the Android SDK architecture, implementation, and long-term technical direction.
• Own the Android SDKs' backlog and architectural roadmap.
• Lead development and maintenance of the Android Voice and Video SDKs, including WebRTC/C++ layers.
• Drive build pipeline stability; contribute to CI/CD migration.
• Define Android best practices and be the go-to Android resource.
• Collaborate with iOS, JS, and React Native SDK teams for cross-platform convergence.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and ensure quality and test coverage.
• Partner with product/platform leads to deliver on roadmap commitments.
• Share knowledge and documentation to reduce single points of failure.
• Adapt to evolving Android ecosystem to maximize engineering efficiency.
• Enhance automated tests and customer developer experience.
• Monitor and triage customer and repo issues.
• Enhance Twilio Voice and Video Android reference apps.
