Job summary

Twilio is hiring a Voice and Video Android SDK Staff Engineer to build and deliver Android-based Voice and Video functionalities for our customers. You will own architecture, backlog, and roadmap, influencing cross-functional teams and guiding best practices across the Android platform.

This role involves leading development of the Android Voice and Video SDKs, integrating WebRTC and C++ layers, and driving CI/CD improvements, with a focus on scalable solutions used by thousands of customers

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on Android development.
• Deep expertise in Android SDK development and what Android developers expect from third-party SDKs.
• Experience with real-time communication technologies (WebRTC, SIP, RTP) preferred.
• Proficiency in Java/Kotlin in addition to C++ and familiarity with CI/CD systems.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Own the Android SDK architecture, implementation, and long-term technical direction
• Own the Android SDKs’ technical backlog and architectural roadmap
• Lead development and maintenance of the Android Voice and Video SDKs, including the underlying WebRTC/ReSiprocate/C++ layer
• Drive build pipeline stability and participate in CI/CD migration efforts
• Define Android best practices and serve as the go-to resource for Android-specific guidance across the organization
• Conduct thorough code reviews and ensure quality, correctness, and test coverage
• Partner with product and platform leads to evaluate feasibility and deliver on roadmap commitments
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and documentation to reduce single points of failure
• Adapt to the evolving Android ecosystem to maximize engineering efficiency
• Enhance automated tests with high level code coverage
• Monitor and triage customer issues and Git repo issues
• Enhance Twilio Voice and Video Android reference apps
