Job summary

Twilio is seeking a Staff Android SDK Engineer to build and deliver Voice and Video features through Twilio’s Android SDKs. You will own architecture, backlog, and long‑term technical direction, including the underlying C++ layer and WebRTC stack.

You will drive CI/CD improvements, define Android best practices, and collaborate with iOS/JS/RN teams to align cross‑platform efforts. Strong mentoring, communication, and real‑time communications expertise are essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering with a strong focus on Android development.
• Deep expertise in Android SDK development and what Android developers expect from third‑party SDKs.
• Experience with real‑time communication technologies (WebRTC, SIP, RTP) preferred.
• Proficiency in Java/Kotlin in addition to C++.
• Familiarity with CI/CD systems and mobile build pipelines.
• Strong communication, cross‑functional influence, and mentoring skills.
• Experience with Claude and Github Copilot is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the Android SDK architecture, implementation, and long‑term technical direction.
• Own the Android SDKs’ backlog and architectural roadmap.
• Lead development and maintenance of the Android Voice and Video SDKs, including the native C++ layer.
• Drive build pipeline stability and CI/CD migration efforts.
• Define Android best practices and provide Android‑specific guidance across the org.
• Collaborate with iOS, JS, and RN SDK teams for cross‑platform convergence.
• Conduct code reviews and maintain quality, correctness, and test coverage.
• Partner with product/leadership to estimate effort and deliver on roadmap.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and documentation to reduce single points of failure.
• Stay current with Android ecosystem and improve customer developers’ experience.
