Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health seeks an Ambulatory Access Manager for Specialty Departments to provide strategic leadership of the Specialty Access function and drive data-driven improvements in scheduling and Epic-enabled workflows.

You will supervise Access Optimization Specialists, optimize workflows, and collaborate with specialty and enterprise leaders to strengthen patient access across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Health Information Management or related field.
• Five+ years of healthcare operations experience with familiarity in Epic scheduling workflows and access tools.
• Three+ years of direct management experience in an operational or technical environment.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills to drive alignment across departments.

Responsibilities

• Leads and supervises Access Optimization Specialists and Design Specialists with coaching and performance management.
• Drives workflow optimization for specialty scheduling, EHR configuration, and operational standardization.
• Collaborates with specialty leaders and clinical leadership to tailor access strategies per department.
• Monitors service levels, workload distribution, and performance metrics to ensure quality and timeliness.
• Participates in system design reviews and leads change adoption across stakeholder groups.
• Supports expansion of EHR scheduling functionality, including self-scheduling and provider templating.
