Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Senior Lead Architect to drive bold, scalable optical architectures for AI-ready connectivity from a home-based US location. You’ll shape strategic visions, lead multi-disciplinary initiatives, and influence decisions that impact customers and partners.

You’ll work in a high-accountability environment, delivering architectural solutions, roadmaps, and automation strategies while collaborating across units and standard bodies. This role emphasizes impact and transformation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, optical, or Telecommunication engineering or 5–7+ years of equivalent experience.
• MBA or 5–7+ years of experience in financial modeling.
• Fluent in DWDM, Coherent Optics, ROADM/Open Line Systems, Optical performance modeling, and network resiliency.
• Strong analytical approach to solving problems.
• Experience communicating technical solutions to senior and junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Translate emerging technologies into deployable architecture, standards, and operational models.
• Provide technology roadmaps, reference architectures, lifecycle planning, and interoperability requirements.
• Envision future optical network scenarios 1–3 years out and implementables.
• Lead data mining, analytics, and modeling for network insights.
• Derive financial models including TCO, ROI, NPV and cost forecasting.
• Develop business cases to support architectural decisions.
• Create an automation vision for the Optical Product line.
