Modern Family Law seeks a Legal Knowledge Engineer to bridge legal expertise with AI systems, translating complex legal reasoning and workflows into scalable AI-enabled delivery platforms.

You will design decision trees, prompt architectures, and automated processes for family law workflows, while collaborating with attorneys, product teams, and developers to implement and test solutions. The role emphasizes governance, ethics, and regulatory compliance in a remote-first firm.

Qualifications

• JD, paralegal certification, or equivalent practical legal workflow experience.
• 3+ years in legal operations, legal tech, workflow design, or related fields.
• Strong understanding of legal workflows and operational process design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; highly collaborative.

Responsibilities

• Translate legal reasoning, workflows, and procedural requirements into structured AI-enabled systems.
• Design decision trees, escalation frameworks, and prompt architectures for family law workflows.
• Collaborate with attorneys and operational teams to identify automation opportunities.
• Maintain institutional legal knowledge repositories, playbooks, and guidance systems.
• Develop AI prompts, retrieval systems, and workflow orchestration logic.
• Assist in building AI-powered intake systems and document automation workflows.
• Partner with product managers, developers, and AI engineers on implementation and testing.
• Define QA, human-review, and escalation standards for AI-generated work.
• Monitor AI outputs for consistency, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in testing, iteration, and optimization of AI-assisted workflows.
• Document legal workflows, system logic, and governance procedures.
• Stay informed on AI tech trends and regulatory considerations.
