Job summary

Modern Family Law is seeking a Legal Knowledge Engineer to design and build AI-native legal service delivery systems. You will bridge legal expertise with AI technology, translating workflows and institutional knowledge into scalable AI-enabled processes.

Collaborate across legal, product, and engineering teams to automate and optimize family law workflows while ensuring human oversight and compliance.

Qualifications

• JD or equivalent practical legal workflow experience.
• 3+ years in legal operations, legal technology, workflow design, or related fields.
• Strong understanding of legal workflows and operational design.
• Analytical and systems-thinking abilities.
• Ability to translate legal concepts into structured workflows.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
• Comfortable working in cross-functional, collaborative environments.
• Curiosity about AI, automation, and the future of legal services.

Responsibilities

• Translate legal reasoning and procedures into AI-enabled systems.
• Design decision trees and prompt architectures for family law workflows.
• Collaborate with attorneys and operations to identify automation opportunities.
• Maintain institutional legal knowledge repositories and playbooks.
• Develop AI prompts, retrieval systems, and workflow orchestration.
• Assist in AI-powered intake and document automation workflows.
• Partner with product managers, developers, and AI engineers on implementation.
• Define quality assurance, human-review, and escalation standards.
• Monitor AI outputs for consistency, quality, and compliance.
• Participate in testing and optimization of AI-assisted workflows.
• Document legal workflows, system logic, and governance procedures.
• Stay informed on emerging AI technologies and regulatory considerations.
