Job summary

Modern Family Law is seeking a Legal Knowledge Engineer to bridge legal expertise and AI systems, shaping AI-native legal delivery. You will translate workflows into scalable AI-enabled solutions, create decision trees, and design governance for compliant, efficient operations.

You will collaborate with attorneys, product teams, and AI engineers to implement, test, and iterate AI-powered legal processes while maintaining human oversight and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• JD or equivalent practical legal workflow experience
• 3+ years in legal operations, legal technology, workflow design, or related fields
• Strong understanding of legal workflows and procedural systems
• Exceptional analytical and systems-thinking abilities
• Ability to translate complex legal concepts into structured workflows and operational logic
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational and project management capabilities
• Comfortable working in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments
• Curiosity about AI and future of legal services

Responsibilities

• Own evaluation standards and escalation criteria for AI-generated work products
• Translate legal reasoning and procedures into structured AI-enabled systems
• Design decision trees, escalation frameworks, and prompt architectures for family law workflows
• Collaborate with attorneys and operational teams to identify automation opportunities
• Maintain institutional legal knowledge repositories and workflow playbooks
• Develop retrieval, prompt orchestration, and workflow execution systems
• Help build AI-powered intake, document automation, and client communication systems
• Partner with product managers, developers, and AI engineers on implementation and testing
• Define quality assurance and escalation standards for AI outputs
• Monitor AI outputs for quality, compliance, and operational effectiveness
• Participate in testing, iteration, and optimization of AI-enabled workflows
• Document legal workflows, system logic, and governance procedures
• Stay informed on AI technologies and regulatory considerations in legal services
