Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a senior software engineer to design, develop, and deploy AI-powered healthcare solutions within the OptumHealth Clinical Platforms team. You will build scalable microservices, RESTful APIs, and integrate HL7 FHIR and Da Vinci standards across core domains.

The role offers the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S., with opportunities to influence healthcare delivery through modern architectures, data interoperability, and AI-driven automation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing and deploying microservices and RESTful APIs using Java 17/21 and Spring Boot
• 3+ years with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) using Spring Data JPA or Hibernate
• 2+ years building or integrating enterprise AI tools to optimize workflows
• 2+ years implementing event-driven architectures with Apache Kafka
• 2+ years deploying scalable apps in cloud environments (AWS or Azure) using Docker/Kubernetes
• 2+ years setting up CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps) and Git/GitHub

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered healthcare solutions and microservices
• Build enterprise RESTful APIs and microservices using Java 17/21 and Spring Boot
• Implement HL7 FHIR and Da Vinci standards across domains
• Create event-driven components with Apache Kafka and relational DBs
• Support CI/CD, containerization, and cloud deployment (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/Azure)
• Establish monitoring, logging, and performance observability across distributed systems
