Job summary

Smile Digital Health is seeking a Software Developer - AI/ML to lead AI strategy and build scalable AI components on top of the Smile platform. You will work in an Agile team with two-week sprints to deliver customer-specific AI/ML capabilities and integrate with existing data products.

The role requires 5+ years in software architecture or AI engineering, deep knowledge of ML tooling, and strong collaboration to meet project deadlines. Remote work options are available.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software architecture, full-stack development, or AI engineering.
• Experience designing end-to-end software architectures for complex projects.
• At least two years implementing advanced AI solutions including semantic matching and RAG.
• Experience deploying agentic systems with LangGraph, Crew AI, or OpenAI Agents SDK.
• Familiarity with Claude Code, Codex, MCP and model ensembles.
• Knowledge of graph databases like Neo4j and data tooling such as Databricks, Spark or Iceberg.
• Experience HITL integrations, testing frameworks and robust documentation.

Responsibilities

• Be AI/ML subject matter expert; stay current with emerging technologies.
• Document AI strategy and align with product roadmap and objectives.
• Shape approach, scope, milestones, and solution design at project start.
• Implement AI/ML solutions; write code, configure components, prototype new tech.
• Write unit tests and documentation; participate in client meetings if required.
• Manage priorities and backlogs; coach team to meet deadlines.
• Understand functionality to provide team support and guidance.
• Lead in-person code reviews, pair programming, and problem analysis.
• Participate in Product/Technology meetings to influence processes and strategy.
