Job summary

Smile Digital Health is seeking an Intermediate Software Developer to help design, implement, and test components of our healthcare data platform. You will collaborate across teams to gather requirements and deliver scalable, interoperable solutions using Java/Spring, RESTful APIs, and containerized deployments.

You will contribute to documentation, code reviews, and best-practice processes while staying current with evolving DevOps and HL7/FHIR concepts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years full-cycle software development experience.
• BS in CS/CS Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Hands-on Java and Spring, RESTful APIs, SQL, and Git.
• CI/CD pipelines, Docker deployment, and DevOps practices.
• Middleware development and TDD/unit testing.
• Clear technical documentation creation.
• Maintaining repositories with code health and quality.
• End-to-end feature development; healthcare/FHIR knowledge a plus.
• Nice to have: Angular/JavaScript/Node.js frontend basics.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement web applications using diverse technologies.
• Create and maintain technical product and end-user documentation.
• Evaluate requirements and propose high-level design solutions.
• Analyze interoperability, performance, and maintainability of apps.
• Write high-quality, well-documented code following standards.
• Estimate timelines for development tasks and deliverables.
• Participate in code reviews to improve quality and identify defects.
• Resolve complex technical challenges for assigned projects.
• Maintain knowledge of ML frameworks and data storage concepts used by the solution.
• Advise on technical design and industry trends.
• Support colleagues with complex project roadblocks and workflows.
• Help set and maintain software development best practices.
