Job summary

Otsuka America Pharmaceutical Inc. in Augusta, Maine, is seeking a Senior Director of AI and Data Science Solutions to define and execute the AI capabilities strategy across the R&D value chain.

You will lead a high-performing team of AI/ML scientists and engineers, coordinating with IT and Data Science functions to deliver compliant, scalable data and AI products for drug development and real-world data evidence.

Qualifications

• Over 12 years in data science, AI/ML, Gen AI with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
• Strong experience architecting large-scale data and AI solutions in regulated environments.
• Experience in pharma/biotech life sciences R&D is highly desirable.
• Proven track record deploying Gen AI and LLMs in production.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive strategy/roadmap for AI, Gen AI within R&D and allied functions.
• Lead design, development, and deployment of scalable AI solutions across R&D data needs.
• Oversee governance, compliance, and data stewardship for AI initiatives across the portfolio.
• Build and mentor a high-performing data science and AI team and manage budgets/resources.
