Job summary

Eticas.ai, a remote EU-led team, seeks an AI Ethics & Evaluation Associate to contribute to EU R&D consortia, advise on responsible AI, and help shape audit methodologies.

You will work across policy frameworks (EU AI Act, GDPR) with technical and legal colleagues, translating complex mandates into actionable spec work while growing in a fast-moving, fully remote environment. Suitable for junior to mid-level candidates with 2–4 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Based in the EU with the right to work.
• Fluency in English (written & spoken).
• Master's degree in data science, computer science or related field, or in public or tech policy with substantial data science coursework.
• 2-4 years of experience in a technical or semi-technical role.
• Working understanding of how ML systems are built, evaluated and deployed.
• Baseline familiarity with AI ethics and socio-technical auditing.
• Strong written communication and attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills with track record of managing multiple workstreams.
• Experience with Horizon Europe or other R&D projects is a plus.
• Comfort using AI tools for scale while maintaining judgement and original thinking.

Responsibilities

• Own Eticas's day-to-day performance in EU R&D consortia.
• Advise partner technical teams on responsible AI by design and testing.
• Translate complex legal and ethical mandates into socio-technical specifications.
• Identify opportunities for developing and testing new auditing tools and processes.
• Draft and co-author project reports, including ethics assessments and risk analyses.
• Track project commitments, milestones, deadlines and reporting obligations.
• Share clear, prioritized readouts after meetings highlighting decisions and risks.
• Maintain organized project documentation.
• Grow from supporting existing work to proposing new AI audits and evaluations.
