Job summary

RTI International is seeking a Software Engineer who builds cloud-native applications and applies AI technologies to real-world business, research, or client needs. You will work with researchers, data scientists, and software engineers to deploy reliable AI-enabled solutions.

You will translate complex requirements into scalable, secure workflows, contribute to production-ready systems, and communicate trade-offs clearly to stakeholders in federally regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Master's degree and at least three years building cloud-native apps.
• OR Bachelor's degree with at least five years of relevant experience.
• At least two years of programming in Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Experience deploying AI- or LLM-based systems, incl. pipelines and workflows.
• Experience integrating AI models via APIs or model-serving infra.
• Experience handling sensitive data with privacy/compliance in mind.
• Proficiency with Git and modern dev workflows.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, containers, and IaC concepts.
• Experience in cross-functional, team-based environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication to explain AI trade-offs.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain AI-enabled systems and multi-step workflows.
• Integrate AI systems with RTI’s survey/data platforms and pipelines.
• Develop cloud-native services using APIs, containers, and CI/CD.
• Translate research and client needs into practical AI applications.
• Collaborate with data scientists, researchers, and software engineers for rigor.
• Document systems and contribute to reusable components.
• Ensure solutions are testable, deployable, and maintainable in enterprise settings.
• Support deployment in federally regulated and research-driven environments.
