Real-Time Innovations (RTI) seeks a Principal Research Engineer to tackle AI coding for distributed systems, timing control, and software-defined architectures. You will lead small teams on advanced features for RTI’s Connext platform, influencing product direction and securing external research funding.

The role emphasizes collaboration with sponsors, customers, and RTI engineers, with opportunities to publish results and transition innovations to real-world applications.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Appropriate research expertise includes electromechanical, intelligent or autonomous systems, distributed systems, physical agentic AI, or computer networking.

Responsibilities

• Innovate new solutions for secure, adaptable, and fast distributed systems.
• Define research areas of interest and propose topics with business partners.
• Compose research proposals and report progress to sponsors.
• Lead research contracts to push technology forward.
• Interface with sponsors, customers, partners, and prospects.
• Develop expertise in emerging technology and share insights across RTI.
• Communicate technical innovations through papers and presentations.
• Support transition of innovations to product through customer trials and engineering collaboration.
