Job summary

Optum seeks a Director of Technical Product & Portfolio Management to lead the AI-Native Pharmacy portfolio. You will define strategy, drive lifecycle from discovery to retirement, and partner across business capability owners, engineering, and data teams to deliver scalable AI-enabled capabilities.

Responsibilities include investment portfolio management, budgeting, and executive reporting, with a focus on responsible AI adoption and measurable business outcomes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of technical product, program, or portfolio management experience leading large-scale enterprise technology platforms and software solutions.
• 5+ years translating business use cases into technical solutions with strong technical aptitude.
• 2+ years hands-on experience with AI integration, generative AI, responsible AI practices, and AI experimentation.
• Experience owning a technology investment portfolio including capital planning, governance, prioritization, roadmap management, and benefits realization.
• Experience defining enterprise product strategy and delivering complex, cloud-enabled software solutions.
• Experience evaluating, integrating, or deploying modern AI capabilities in enterprise workflows.
• Proven ability to partner with Finance on business cases, capital allocation, forecasting, and financial validation of outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the integrated Optum Rx AI-Native Pharmacy product strategy, roadmap, and capabilities.
• Lead end-to-end product lifecycle from discovery through delivery, adoption, and retirement.
• Partner with business, engineering, data, and operations teams to translate priorities into scalable AI-driven capabilities.
• Accelerate responsible AI adoption across Pharmacy lines of business and develop AI-enabled workflows.
• Own the integrated investment portfolio, aligning spend and sequencing to enterprise strategy and outcomes.
• Collaborate with capability owners on intake, prioritization, funding recommendations, and trade-offs.
• Develop capital plans, business cases, and investment roadmaps with Finance and leaders.
• Establish and maintain a unified portfolio roadmap with milestones, risks, and benefits.
• Oversee budget, forecast, and funding reallocation to high-value opportunities.
• Build relationships with stakeholders and communicate clearly across domains.
• Coach and develop a high-performing team of product, portfolio, and program managers.
• Drive reuse of capabilities and minimize overlapping work across portfolios.
• Leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and innovation across workflows.
