Job summary

Well-known university press is seeking an Acquisitions Editor to identify, evaluate, acquire, and develop book projects for trade, scholarly, and professional audiences across science, education, and related disciplines. This role will manage a pipeline of projects and collaborate with authors and internal teams.

Remote opportunity with travel as needed. The editor will cultivate relationships with faculty, researchers, and prospective authors to expand the program and drive editorial strategy

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• 3+ years experience in related field preferred.
• Knowledge of higher education space.

Responsibilities

• Acquire and develop trade, scholarly, and professional book projects.
• Evaluate proposals and market opportunities to build pipeline.
• Build relationships with authors, faculty, researchers, reviewers, and agents.
• Manage acquisitions from proposal through peer review and contracts.
• Collaborate with editorial, production, marketing, sales, and design teams.
• Manage frontlist and backlist titles and publishing plans.
• Represent the program at conferences and professional engagements.
