Job summary

Burkland Associates is a remote-first firm delivering project-based accounting work and system implementations for startups and clients. The Accounting Project and Implementation Specialist leads historical cleanups, onboarding, and client projects, while supporting testing and adoption of new tools and workflows to improve efficiency.

You will work with the production team, ensure on-scope engagements, and help implement new tools under director guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on accounting work including month-end close and reconciliations.
• Experience creating new processes and improving tools and workflows.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage historical cleanup and onboarding engagements to scope and timeline.
• Reconcile historical records and close-ready state for client books.
• Set up new client environments including COA and opening balances.
• Flag scope changes affecting pricing and resolve promptly.
• Track hours against quotes in real time across engagements.
• Provide final handoffs and documentation to production team.
