Job summary

Huntington Bancshares, Inc. in Cleveland seeks a Managing Director and Team Lead for Asset-Based Lending (ABL) Underwriting. You will lead a nationally based underwriting team, structure complex credits, and ensure disciplined risk management and timely decisions.

You will partner with business development, relationship management, and operations to drive prudent growth while maintaining supervisory standards and robust collateral discipline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field; advanced degree or CFA/FRM a plus.
• 10+ years in ABL underwriting.
• 2+ years leading underwriters or a formal team lead role.

Responsibilities

• Set team strategy and capacity plan; assign and review work, calibrate credit judgment, and coach underwriters to elevate structuring quality and speed to decision.
• Lead underwriting of new money, amendments, and renewals across revolvers, term loans, and seasonal lines; provide clear recommendations, terms, and risk‑mitigation actions.
• Underwrite complex capital structures including sponsor-backed deals and multi‑tranche facilities; evaluate governance, track record, and collateral strategy.
• Oversee collateral diligence, field exams, reporting controls, and borrowing‑base mechanics; ensure compliance with policy and supervisory expectations.
• Interpret and operationalize credit policy and control frameworks; collaborate with policy, ERM, and audit to close gaps and maintain SLAs.
• Collaborate with coverage/origination, legal, operations, and collateral vendors to optimize deal structure, documentation, and timely execution.
• Use analytics to track cycle time and underwriting quality; drive process improvements and adopt technology for collateral analysis.
