Job summary

Guidant Financial is recruiting for a Retirement Plan Specialist to learn and administer 401(k) plans from a remote home office. You will review client documents, assist with year‑end reporting, and help prepare filings including IRS Form 5500, growing through accelerated training.

You’ll work with diverse clients nationwide, using Excel and administrative software, and you’ll engage clients with clear updates and timely communications to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and proactive problem solving.
• Skills in customer service, organization and collaboration.
• Adequate math and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of 401(K) plan structure, ROBS and IRS/DOL Regulations preferred.
• Autonomous, self-directed worker with inclusive mindset.

Responsibilities

• Work with clients to obtain necessary information to prepare the annual reporting.
• Review documents submitted by clients for completeness and accuracy.
• Reconcile plans with only rollovers and plan stock using Excel and administration software.
• Utilize administration software to complete 401(k) testing and reporting.
• Make outgoing reminder calls and send emails to clients during the plan year reporting process.
• Prepare required 401(k) plan government filings, including the IRS Form 5500.
• Educate clients regarding the administration of their 401(k) plan and documents.
• Share knowledge and explain complex topics simply.
• Training on concepts for a Retirement Plan Administrator I.
• Performs other duties as required.
