Job summary

Northrop Grumman invites applications for an Engineering Technician – Level 3 or Level 4 in Promontory, UT. The role conducts hands-on chemical analyses, prepares samples, and operates/maintains lab instruments to support development and production programs.

The candidate will work with scientists and engineers, follow written/verbal instructions, and document results while adhering to safety standards. A Level 3 or 4 qualifier and security clearance requirements apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education/experience
• Experience with chemicals or in a lab, production, or technical setting
• Ability to follow written procedures and verbal instructions to safely perform experiments
• Strong understanding of laboratory practices, data integrity, and safety requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; documentation of procedures and results
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on chemical and analytical testing in an R&D laboratory environment
• Follow procedures and work instructions to set up and execute experiments
• Prepare samples and reagents per safety and lab requirements
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments (chromatographs, spectrometers, FTIR, pH meters)
• Record and organize test data and maintain notebooks
• Assist scientists with test plans and method development
• Maintain clean and safe work areas and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Provide feedback to improve procedures, safety, and efficiency
• Follow safety practices including handling of energetic materials and PPE
