Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is hiring an NDT Engineer at Level 3 or 4 for the Promontory, UT site. The role develops and implements nondestructive inspection techniques and works with design, project, and quality teams to select the best NDT method for product quality at low cost.

Required: engineering degree with 5+ years (or advanced degrees as noted), DoD clearance eligibility, and NAS 410 Level 3 certifications. Cross-train in additional NDT methods across ET/MT/UT/RT/PT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 5+ years of professional experience OR Master’s with 3+ years OR PhD with 1+ year.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
• Minimum of one NAS 410 Level 3 certification in Eddy Current, Ultrasonic, or Radiography; records of certification required.
• Will need to obtain additional NAS 410 Level 3 certifications in ET/MT/UT/RT/PT.
• Must pass Snellen or Jaeger vision test for NAS 410 certification.
• Cross-train in other NDT methods.

Responsibilities

• Designs NDT inspection processes for energetic, sensitive, corrosive, or chemical processes.
• Develops formal customer reports with graphics, plots, and summaries.
• Maintains and archives inspection data and reports.
• Interacts with suppliers, designers, safety and management.
• Implements qualification and change management to meet requirements.
• Reviews designs to ensure correct NDT method and defect sizing.
