Job summary

Virginia's Community College System seeks a part-time Relief Licensed Veterinary Technician to support the veterinary technology department and animal hospital operations. The role will assist instructors, supervise students, and ensure proper care for animals on the relief basis during the semester.

Requirements include Virginia licensure as a Veterinary Technician and clinical experience, with a focus on lab setup, patient care, and compliance with relevant regulations.

• Maintain medical records for animals.
• Assist with admitting and discharging shelter patients.
• Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations of NOVA, VCCS, AVMA, USDA, DEA, and VA Board of Veterinary Medicine
• Assist with any other duties as assigned

General Description

Sensitive Position No Job Description This position will support and work closely with the faculty, students and staff in the veterinary technology department to ensure that all labs are set up to be successful, and all animals are properly cared for. This position is vital to the operation of the animal hospital and the academic LVT program. This position will work on relief basis during the semester when animals are on the premises.

Special Assignments

Minimum Work Experience

Additional Considerations

• Professional licensing as a credentialed technician from a different state and eligible to obtain a VA state license as a LVT within 30 days of hire.
