Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is seeking an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician (Relief) in San Diego, CA (Otay Ranch). You’ll join a fast-paced ER team, triaging and treating emergencies while delivering compassionate care to pets and supporting their families.

You’ll provide anesthesia, diagnostics, monitoring, and critical care nursing, with opportunities to grow skills and mentor peers. Per diem, nights/weekends as needed, competitive pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or higher in veterinary technology preferred
• Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state the VEG practice is located; VTS an ECC, internal medicine or anesthesia/analgesia is a plus
• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty medicine preferred
• Basic computer skills and EMR software familiarity
• Excellent communicator and calm under pressure; team-focused
• Stand/walk for extended periods; lift up to 25 kg; tolerate noisy environment

Responsibilities

• Treat every patient and person with care through triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing
• Provide nursing care, treatments, and emotional support from triage to discharge
• administer IVs, monitoring, blood transfusions, and other therapies
• Collaborate with doctors and team to keep care flowing
• Perform advanced techniques and diagnostics as needed
• Assist with anesthesia, imaging, sample collection, and tube placement
