Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant (Relief) in Greenwich, CT. You’ll support a fast-paced ER team, triage patients, assist with treatments, monitoring, and procedures, and help ensure a smooth patient flow.

You’ll work with credentialed staff, learn anesthesia support, ultrasound, and catheterization through guided training pathways, with opportunities to advance in a leading veterinary emergency company.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in AVMA-accredited veterinary tech program a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR knowledge.
• Excellent communicator with pet parents and team.

Responsibilities

• Triage and welcome patients; guide to care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Work with technicians and veterinarians on anesthesia and sedation.
• Set up IV fluids, transfusions, and med administration.
• Support care in outpatient or inpatient settings.
• Participate in patient rounds and maintain continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER training (provided).
• Grow into advanced roles via training pathways.
