Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group The PC in Millburn, NJ is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant (Relief) to support our team in a fast-paced ER. You will triage, assist with treatments, monitor patients, and participate in rounds, with opportunities for learning and credentialing.

This per diem role offers flexible scheduling, exposure to anesthesia support and diagnostic procedures, and pathways to credentialed technician tracks. Compensation ranges from $18.50 to $39 per hour plus benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is a plus.
• Basic computer skills and EMR understanding.
• Excellent communicator with pet parents and team.
• Able to stand for long hours in a noisy environment.
• Ability to lift up to 25 kg; assist with heavier lifting.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and triage to care.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Monitor anesthesia and sedation with veterinarians.
• Set up IV fluids and medications.
• Support outpatient and inpatient care from exam room to treatment area.
• Join rounds to maintain continuity of care.
• Learn CPR and RECOVER certification (training provided).
• Grow into advanced roles such as ultrasound and catheterization.
