Job summary

Shaw Industries is seeking a Maintenance Tech C to support safe, reliable operation of production equipment. You will perform hands-on maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and assist senior technicians, helping minimize downtime and maintain product quality in a team-focused environment.

You will learn maintenance practices, read schematics, and participate in PM and PdM activities while contributing to overall manufacturing objectives.

Qualifications

• Safety practices: LOTO, Confined Space, PPE, PIT, Fall Protection, Hoisting & Rigging, and Hot Work
• Calculator and Computer application: work order documentation, parts requisitioning
• Measurement units, techniques and application of appropriate tools
• Math skills to include arithmetic
• Application of formulas such as area, volume
• Conversion of measurement units
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and sketches
• Identification and proper use of tools for the work
• Lubricants storage and handling techniques
• Power transmission component types, terms, operation, and maintenance
• Plumbing/piping conveyance system types, terms, operation, and maintenance
• Precision alignment techniques for indirect coupled elements, including laser alignment
• Basic troubleshooting of mechanical systems
• Common cause failure modes and correction of mechanical systems

Responsibilities

• Execute assigned tasks with focus on safe work practices.
• Produce high-quality, precise work with a customer service orientation.
• Adhere to standards and best practices learned through training and experience.
• Learn maintenance practices and equipment performance and their impact on processes and goals.
• Provide feedback on workload and improvement opportunities with peers and leadership.
• Maintain processes and equipment to high performance levels, focusing on mechanical systems.
• Power transmission components (bearings, pulleys, shafts, couplings, etc.)
• Conveyance systems, utilities, pumps, piping, etc.
• Mechanical control systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic elements.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment affecting safety and downtime.
• Communicate findings with causes and corrective steps to leadership.
• Execute proactive PM plans on assigned equipment.
• PM: inspection and lubrication on predefined schedules.
• PdM: data collection with PdM tools related to equipment performance.
