Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking an engineering intern in Colorado to support the Performance Optimization and Reliability Organizations. You will work closely with Plant Engineers and Reliability Engineers, reviewing designs and APM recommendations while assisting with work orders and capital projects.

The internship starts May 24, 2027, with potential extension based on performance and business needs. You must be a current student in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering and be able to commit

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher (as of Fall 2027)
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Responsibilities

• Review designs.
• Review APM recommendations.
• Work order cleanup.
• Support capital projects.
