Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker Inc. in Towson, MD is seeking a Reliability Engineer to join our hybrid team (3 days in Towson).

You’ll join our new product development reliability group to design and test next-generation power tools, supporting reliability from concept to launch. The ideal candidate has a mechanical/electrical/reliability background, 2+ years in reliability or quality engineering, and experience with FRACAS, DOE, Weibull analysis, and data analytics using Python/SQL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of industry or further educational experience in reliability engineering, quality engineering, testing, or failure analysis, preferably in new product development.
• Experience supporting reliability activities for consumer, industrial, or electromechanical products; power tool experience is a plus.
• Strong working knowledge of FRACAS, root cause analysis, reliability testing, risk assessment, and warranty analysis.
• Experience driving product safety and supporting development teams with reliability and risk-based decision-making.
• Interest and capability in data analysis and programming, including tools such as Python, SQL, and advanced MS Office.
• Experience analyzing test, field, and warranty data to identify trends and support engineering actions.
• Familiarity with reliability methods such as Weibull analysis, life data analysis, DOE, or physics of failure is a plus.
• Experience supporting teardown analysis, benchmarking, and development of new test procedures is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Support NPD projects from a reliability perspective.
• Perform failure analysis, warranty modeling, and test development.
• Ensure safety assurance and compliance adherence.
• Communicate with customers across projects.
• Establish project documentation and test plans.
• Lead safety reviews and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with internal compliance teams for approvals.
• Represent Voice of the Customer in quality activities.
