Job summary

SSAB is seeking a Reliability Engineer to identify and mitigate asset reliability risks, supporting plant performance and overall operations. You will lead preventive/predictive maintenance initiatives, conduct RCFA investigations, and collaborate across maintenance, operations, and engineering to deliver sustainable reliability improvements.

The role emphasizes life-cycle asset management, safety and regulatory compliance, and adoption of emerging technologies to drive uptime and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• 5-8 years in continuous improvement in process manufacturing or industrial settings.
• Proficiency in MES, CMMS, and M365.
• Experience in project management including planning and cross-functional coordination.
• Strong RCFA background with ability to implement corrective actions.
• Formal training/experience in equipment or material failure modes.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to learn new technologies and processes.

Responsibilities

• Analyze equipment performance to identify reliability improvements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Lead RCFA and FMEA investigations; recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with maintenance, operations and engineering to resolve reliability issues.
• Optimize asset life-cycle strategies, spare parts, upgrades, and replacements.
• Support capital projects with reliability input and risk assessments.
• Use reliability tools (CMMS, vibration analysis, thermography, lubrication) to boost uptime.
• Monitor KPIs and report reliability and maintenance performance.
