Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) seeks a Relay Technician II to perform testing, commissioning, and maintenance of protection and control systems with increasing independence across North America.

This mid‑level role emphasizes safety, reliability, and thorough documentation; you will support project teams, develop testing plans, and create detailed reports while advancing expertise in relay protection schemes.

Qualifications

  • Pre-employment drug screen required due to safety sensitive position.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check required.
  • Ability to work overtime and travel out of town as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing & repairing protective relays.
  • Ability to troubleshoot distribution and transmission controls circuits.
  • Knowledge of relay test software.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safety policies and participate in job safety briefings.
  • Perform relay testing with assistance from Senior Technicians and Engineers.
  • Execute end-to-end testing and validate protection system operation.
  • Develop testing and isolation plans for safe execution.
  • Create detailed reports, commissioning records, and calibration docs.
  • Coordinate work with engineers, project teams, and other technicians.
  • Interpret diagrams and schematics to support testing and troubleshooting.

Education

Bachelor's or associate degree in electrical/electronic technology
Military experience
4-year engineering degree, preferred
NETA II Certified
