Job summary

Electric Power Systems is seeking a Relay Technician II to perform testing, commissioning, and maintenance of protection and control systems with increasing independence. You will support project execution through testing, troubleshooting, reporting, and communication with engineers and clients while developing expertise in relay protection schemes.

This on-site role requires safety focus, diagram reading, and collaboration with Senior Technicians and Engineers.

Qualifications

• Pre-employment drug screen required for safety-sensitive role.
• Background check required.
• Willingness to overtime and travel for periods.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing protective relays in substations.
• Knowledge of relay test software.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety policies and participate in job briefings.
• Apply Human Performance Error Reduction concepts in daily work.
• Promote safe work behaviors and support safety initiatives.
• Perform relay testing with Senior Technicians and Engineers.
• Execute element, logic, and basic functional testing of relays and control systems.
• Read and interpret one-line and three-line diagrams, schematics, and protection logic.
• Develop testing and isolation plans for safe project execution.
• Create detailed reports including test results and calibration docs.
• Coordinate with engineers and project teams to ensure alignment.
