Job summary

Electric Power Systems is seeking a Relay Technician II for testing, commissioning, and maintenance of protection and control systems. This mid-level role emphasizes safety, technical proficiency, and collaboration with engineers on projects across North America.

You will grow expertise in relay protection schemes and advanced testing practices while supporting project execution. Responsibilities include relay/testing execution, reporting, coordinating with teams, and ensuring safe workflows.

Qualifications

  • Experience installing, maintaining, testing & repairing protective relays in transmission, generation or distribution level substations.
  • Ability to read one-line and protection diagrams and to interpret protection logic.
  • Willingness to work overtime and travel as needed; pass a drug screen and background check.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Perform relay testing with assistance from Senior Relay Technicians and Engineers.
  • Execute element, logic, and basic functional testing of protective relays and control systems.
  • Perform in-service readings to verify system performance and identify abnormalities.
  • Conduct end-to-end testing and validate protection system operation.
  • Perform communication installations and testing for SCADA, GOOSE, Modbus and fiber optics.
  • Create detailed reports, commissioning records, and calibration documentation.
