Job summary

Electric Power Systems is seeking a Relay Technician II to perform testing, commissioning, and maintenance of protection and control systems. You will work with Senior Technicians and Engineers to ensure safe, accurate testing and timely project execution.

The role emphasizes developing expertise in relay protection schemes, conducting comprehensive testing, and communicating results clearly to clients and stakeholders. Travel and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Willingness to work overtime and travel as needed.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing and repairing protective relays.
• Knowledge of relay test software.

Responsibilities

• Perform relay testing with guidance from Senior Technicians and Engineers.
• Execute element, logic, and basic functional testing of protective relays and control systems.
• Perform in-service readings to verify system performance and identify abnormalities.
• Conduct end-to-end testing and validate protection system operation.
• Install and test communication systems including SCADA, GOOSE, Modbus, fiber optics.
• Analyze relay operations, event records, and system data for troubleshooting.
• Read one-line and three-line diagrams and protection logic.
• Develop testing and isolation plans for safe execution.
• Create detailed commissioning and testing reports documenting results.
• Coordinate with engineers, project teams, and other technicians for project alignment.
