Mercy is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to assist therapists and support patient care across all ages. Responsibilities include registration, scheduling, patient transfers, and preparing treatment areas under therapist guidance.

Qualifications

• One year experience or education in therapies preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the registration and scheduling process of patients.
• Perform patient care duties with patients of all ages within departmental policies and procedures while under the direction of staff therapists.
• Responsible for transferring patients to and from the Rehab Therapy Gym.
• Provide excellent human relation skills, especially while working with patients.
• Work well with others and be flexible with regard to performing a variety of duties.
• Demonstrate initiative and responsibility for daily tasks.
• Direct contacts include patients, therapists, and nurses.
• Enter charges and prepare treatment areas; assist with treatment procedures as directed by therapists.
• Clean/prepare treatment areas, assist with appointment scheduling and filing, occasionally perform receptionist duties, and transportation and transfer activities for patients.
• No Supervisory responsibilities.
• Perform work in accordance with Mercy's mission, vision, and values.
• Provide safe transportation of the patient to and from the department as directed by therapists and according to departmental policies and procedures for safety.
• Assist therapists by performing treatment procedures/modalities according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of special needs and behavior of specific age groups.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area as standardized in departmental policies and procedures.
• Greet all patients and visitors in a courteous manner; notify appropriate therapist upon arrival.
