Job summary

Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services (IVRS) is seeking a Rehabilitation Assistant for our Iowa WORKS office in Council Bluffs. This role supports counselors and a collaborative team to help individuals with disabilities prepare for and obtain employment.

Starting salary is $18.32 per hour, with hybrid telework options after six months of employment and training completed. The position is ideal for those beginning a career in public service and human services, offering meaningful,

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time work experience in a human services field involving customer service or public outreach.
• Two years of full-time work experience as a legal assistant/paralegal, medical office assistant, or job coach.
• A combination of two years of education and full-time experience meeting the above conditions.
• Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch with eighteen months in direct client service.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and orient new applicants to IVRS services.
• Assist individuals in completing applications and referral materials.
• Schedule intake interviews and maintain ongoing communication.
• Facilitate job readiness activities such as Job Seeking Skills Training, Job Club, and mock interviews.
• Help individuals build workplace readiness skills and confidence.
• Maintain confidential case records and enter data into the case management system.
• Process releases, correspondence, and service documentation.
• Assist with scheduling, phones, reception coverage, and customer inquiries.
• Ensure work is completed accurately, professionally, and on time.
• Support team operations and special projects.
