The Therapy Technician, working under the supervision of a licensed therapist, is primarily responsible for providing support care to patients and therapy staff. This position must embody company values in daily practice.
Hours: PRN, flexible schedule
Essential Functions:
- Prioritizes and delivers basic patient care, including toileting, bathing, linen and clothing changes, freshwater and ice, ambulating, comfort measures, and other patient needs. Transfers patients utilizing proper body mechanics and safe patient handling techniques.
- Documents vital signs, measures and records intake and output, weights, etc. Reports any changes observed in patient condition or behavior to appropriate nursing or therapy personnel.
- Consults with Therapist and other team members for patient care delivery.
- Responds to patient and family calls and requests.
- Assists in preparing and maintaining gymnasium unit.
- Maintains a physical, social, and psychological environment conducive to patient comfort and healing.
- Assists with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
- May be required to work during inclement weather and staffing emergencies.
- Ensures safety for patients, visitors, and staff by assessing risks and implementing precautions, complying with safety and infection prevention standards.
- Maintains regular attendance as per schedule.
- Performs other duties to support organizational effectiveness.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2 years of inpatient hospital experience preferred.
Required Licenses, Certifications:
- Current BLS certification required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
- Understanding of infection prevention and proper body mechanics.
- Computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
- Clinical proficiency with policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Proper use of supplies and equipment.

- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete tasks.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), pushing, and pulling.
- Exposure to bodily fluids possible.
- Requires visual and auditory acuity for patient assessment.
- Sufficient manual dexterity for operating equipment and keyboard.
- Close vision and focus adjustment.
