Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking an Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy/Speech Pathology support aide to assist in the PM&R department. Under supervision, you will help patients with therapeutic exercises and activities, and may progress to independent tasks after competencies are met.

You will also assist with vital signs, wound care, device transfers, and setup. A strong focus on patient safety, communication, and adherence to protocols is essential for this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in a medical or exercise science preferred.
• Must complete competencies annually.
• CPR/BLS/NRP certification required or within 90 days

Responsibilities

• Aids patients with functional exercises and activities under supervision.
• Checks vital signs during patient activities as directed.
• Assists with wound care treatment and patient transfers.
• Assists in ambulation devices use and setup.
• Supports ADL activities with adaptive equipment.
• Participates in bedside treatments and positioning.
• Maintains and cleans treatment areas and supplies.
• Transports patients and equipment as needed.
