Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center is seeking a Rehabilitation Technician who assists Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Speech Language Pathologists with patient treatment under direct supervision. Responsibilities include wound care assistance, patient transfers, and equipment handling.

The role also involves organizing treatment areas, managing supplies, and performing related administrative duties as assigned in accordance with hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written English language instructions.
• Demonstrates knowledge of relevant therapy practices.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in practicing exercises and vital signs under supervision.
• Assist PT/OT with wound care therapy including preparation, dressings, and transfers.
• Fit and direct patients in use of crutches, walkers and ambulation devices.
• Assist in Activities of Daily Living using adaptive equipment as directed.
• Transport equipment and patients, and prepare for patient transfers as required.
• Maintain clean, organized treatment areas and equipment; manage logs and par levels.
• Handle administrative duties: scheduling, faxing, scanning, and form development.
