Job summary

Exponent, a premier engineering and scientific consulting firm, seeks a Managing Scientist for our Chemical Regulation and Food Safety Practice. Location is flexible. You will lead projects, provide regulatory and technical expertise, identify new clients, and develop business in the regulatory space.

This is an experienced consultant role requiring EPA TSCA knowledge, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to mentor junior staff while managing budgets and client relationships.

Qualifications

• B.S. is required; M.S. or Ph.D. in a science-related field preferred.
• 5+ years EPA TSCA regulatory experience.
• 5+ years consulting or government regulatory experience.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Detail-oriented, able to work independently and manage time.
• Experience with project management, budgeting, and invoicing.

Responsibilities

• Providing regulatory compliance and risk assessment support for product stewardship and sustainability projects across a range of industries.
• Developing clients through business development and marketing efforts
• Client management and project work; interacting directly with clients and regulators
• Managing and tracking client projects, project deliverables, invoices, and budgets
• Providing regulatory and technical review and quality control support for projects
• Synthesizing technical and regulatory information for clients and regulators
• Providing scientific technical peer review
• Mentoring junior staff
