Job summary

Gusto seeks a hands-on regulatory compliance professional to own the day-to-day management of licensing portfolios across NMLS and state licenses. You will lead applications, renewals, amendments, and reporting while partnering with Counsel and cross-functional teams.

As part of an AI-native Legal & Compliance team, you’ll implement scalable licensing workflows, contribute to examinations, and advise on licensing changes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of regulatory compliance experience in fintech/payments.
• At least 3 years managing money transmission licenses (MTL).
• Paralegal background with regulatory filings experience preferred.
• Hands-on NMLS expertise including MU1, MU2, MU3 filings and renewal cycles.
• Strong documentation and deadline-tracking discipline.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day management of Gusto's money transmitter licenses and maintain a current system of record.
• Manage NMLS company records end to end and run annual renewal cycles.
• Prepare and file new license applications, expansion filings, and amendments with counsel.
• Own the quarterly NMLS MSB Call Report and state periodic filings.
• Manage the surety bond portfolio and regulatory filing calendar with on-time filings.
• Contribute on state and multistate examinations with evidence collection and QC.
• Support examination findings through closure and regulator communications.
• Monitor state money transmission developments and assess impact on licenses.
• Translate licensing requirements into clear procedures for cross-functional partners.
• Use AI-enabled tools to automate filing prep, deadline tracking, and evidence assembly.
