Job description

We are on a mission to grow Second Nature Brands 4x from $500MM to $1+B in the next 4 years through a combination of organic growth (increased distribution, e-commerce, and innovation) and through M&A. We have an opening for a Regulatory Compliance Specialist. This role reports to the Regulatory Compliance Manager and will perform a variety of regulatory activities related to raw materials, finished products, packaging, and regulatory database management to ensure compliance with applicable food and other product-related laws and regulations in accordance with internal processes in the US and Canada. This is a remote position that will require some travel to Michigan and Canada. Eastern time zone is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Assists with label creation, technical copy, and packaging review as needed to ensure compliance with food regulations of the US and Canada.
• Provide technical consultation to ensure compliance with food regulations in the US and Canada.
• Assists with maintaining customer portals and supporting Sales needs.
• Reviews supplier documentation to assess gaps between internal standards and information supplied for regulatory related requirements.
• Assists with tasks involving the secondary supplier approval process as needed.
• Maintains internal raw material and finished goods specifications, making updates as necessary and communicating any changes that may occur.
• Collaborate with R&D, Procurement, Marketing, and Sales teams as needed.
• Assist Consumer Affairs with regulatory questions.
• Performs all other tasks assigned by Regulatory Compliance Manager
  
  

Qualifications And Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Biological Sciences, or closely related field. Prior work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Knowledge of food regulations in the US and Canada.
• Expertise in food labeling, ingredient specification, and compliance documentation.
• Experience managing data in customer portals or equivalent software systems preferred.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and offer solutions.
• Ability to concisely communicate technical concepts through visual, oral, and written methods.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to generate accurate work product in a timely manner.
• PC skills in Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, TraceGains, label proofing software and nutrition database management preferred.
