Job summary

Amazon’s Worldwide Environmental Assurance and Protection (EAP) team seeks a Risk Specialist I to drive regulated waste compliance across California sites. You will execute compliance plans, conduct site inspections, maintain hazardous waste records, and surface gaps through program controls, partnering with site and operations teams to reach milestones.

The ideal candidate has knowledge of RCRA, DOT, state rules, and data-driven problem solving.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) or related field
2+ years of experience in environmental compliance, regulated waste management, or workplace risk investigations
Experience interpreting and applying environmental regulations (RCRA, DOT, and applicable state hazardous waste rules)
Experience collecting and analyzing data to identify compliance gaps and drive corrective actions

Responsibilities

Own the execution and delivery of regulated waste compliance projects and activities, including SOPs, workflows, and inspection routines
Apply risk management methods such as waste compliance audits and site inspections to monitor compliance thresholds, test controls, and take corrective action
Collaborate with site teams, compliance operations, and operations partners to understand business needs and drive discussions that build consensus
Identify process improvement opportunities and work with process owners to improve conformance and reduce risk
Prepare clear documentation including status reports, audit results, metrics, and project communications
Travel expected up to 50% of the time
