The Registration Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for patients, providers, and payers and is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while supporting patient access, scheduling, registration, insurance verification, revenue cycle operations, and coordinated care services. This position functions as an integral member of the care team by facilitating communication among patients, providers, clinical staff, referral partners, and insurance carriers to ensure accurate, efficient, and patient-centered care. The Registration Coordinator is responsible for scheduling appointments with patients, taking incoming patient and provider calls, coordinating the check-out process, and ensuring the accuracy of coordinated care. The position facilitates dissemination of information to the care team as appropriate and serves as a liaison between providers, patients, and third-party payers.
Responsibilities include patient registration, insurance verification, patient liability determination, collection of co-payments and outstanding balances, medical, dental, and specialty-service coding, billing and claims processing, appeals management, cash handling, treatment plan and payment arrangement development, maintenance of medical records, and coordination of referrals and specialty services. The coordinator exercises sound judgment when triaging patient inquiries and directing patients to the appropriate level of care or service.
