Job summary

Centerpoint Health – Paris Hospital is seeking a Registrar to join our team and help ensure accurate patient registrations and smooth admissions. You’ll collect demographic and insurance information and guide patients through the registration process with a patient-centered approach in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Join Lifepoint Health’s Paris campus and contribute to high-quality care. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, with additional credentials as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience in patient registration and insurance verification.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients and staff.
  • Comfortable working in a high-pressure hospital environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
  • Distribute and explain forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.
  • Meet with patient or patient’s caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.
  • Coordinate with admitting office, nursing staff and other personnel to exchange information and determine placement.
  • Verify insurance benefits and obtain precertification; collect payments or refer to financial counselors.

What we’re looking for

The Registrar collects patient demographic and insurance information for outpatient services. Collects insurance, co-pay, and deductibles at Point of Service. Quickly and efficiently expedites the registration process. Provides a positive first impression of the hospital to the public.

How you’ll contribute
  • Ensure that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.

  • Distribute and explain forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.

  • Meet with patient or patient’s caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.

  • Communicate with admitting physician’s office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement.

  • Verify insurance benefits and obtain precertification/authorization as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow-up

Education

High School Diploma or GED Preferred; Associate degree preferred.

Certifications
  • Handle with Care certification required within 30 days of orientation and maintained annually
Schedule: Part Time / PRN: Must have flexible schedule. Hours will include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
