Job summary

Four Seasons Veterinary Specialists in Loveland, CO seeks a Registered Veterinary Technician with a cardiology focus to join our fast-paced specialty team. You will perform advanced cardiology procedures, communicate with clients, and support cardiologists to deliver exceptional patient care.

Qualifications

• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
• Minimum 2 years recent veterinary experience
• Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood draws, lab work and anesthesia monitoring
• Ability to work in a fast-paced cardiology/specialty environment

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments and procedures for the Cardiologist
• Restrain animals for exams and document findings
• Record vital signs and maintain patient records
• Perform venipuncture, CBCs and blood smears
• Submit lab samples and handle specimen preparation
• Monitor and administer medications as ordered
• Communicate with referring veterinarians and clients

You should be comfortable with ECGs, echocardiograms, client communication, patient handling, and working closely with our cardiologists to provide top-tier care.

DUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Skills

ScheduleappointmentsandmedicalproceduresfortheCardiologist.

Performappropriateanimalrestraintforexamsandrecordfindingsontheexamform.

Accurately acquire and record temperatures, pulses, respirations, weights and take patienthistoriesandmaintainpatientrecordsbyrecordingallconversationswithclientin patient file.

Performvenipuncture,catheterization,runningCBCsandlookingatbloodsmears.

Obtainlaboratorysamplesincludingurineandfeces.

Prepareappropriatelabrequestformsandsubmitappropriate samples.

Preparespecimenstobesenttoreferencelaboratories,shiplabworkto,andtake results from reference laboratories.

Checklaboratoryvaluestomakesuretheyarewithinnormallimitsandnotifythe Cardiologist if they are not.

Administerinjectable,oral,anddermal medications.

Giveinjectionsinaccordancewithgovernmentregulationsanddoctor’sorders.

Updatepatientstatusdailyatrequired times.

AccuratelyacquirebloodpressureandoxygensaturationreadingsandEKGtracings.

Maintainlogsforcontrolled substances.

Enterchargesinthecomputerandprepare estimates.

KnowledgeofAmbulatoryECGplacementandrecording.

Stocksuppliesandcleanandmaintaincardiologysuite,equipment,andinduction.

Accuratelyfilloutprescriptionformsandplaceprescriptionordersatoffsitepharmacies for new and refill prescriptions.

Communicatewithreferring veterinarians.

Communicatewithclientsregardingthemedicalstatusoftheirpetandprovideaccurate information to them regarding procedure for home care and hospital protocols.

Enterpatientstatusdailyinthetreatmentsoftware.

Enterallchargesaccruedbyinpatientsandoutpatients.

Admitanddischarge patients.

Assistwithoutpatientandinpatient appointments.

Reviewmedicalrecordsandnotestodiscernthenatureofthevisitandanytestsor procedures that may be needed. Keep Cardiologist apprised of potential problems.

Assistandpreparesuppliesforoutpatientappointmentsandphysical examinations.

Communication Skills

Haveapositiveattitudeandwillingtolearnnew procedures.

Keepdoctorsinformedofthepatient'sconditionandanypotential problems.

Communicate with clients regarding the medical information of their pet, provide accurateinformationtothemregardingprocedures,followup/homecare,hospital policies, diagnostics, and basic disease processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Minimum2yearsrecentveterinary experience

Skilledinanimalhandling,lifting,restraint,andabletostandforextended periods.

ProficientinIVcatheterplacement,blooddraws,labwork,anesthesiamonitoring, medication administration, and triage.

Solidknowledgeofveterinaryproceduresandterminology;committedtocontinued learning.

UnderstandingofOSHA,DEA,andanimalhealth regulations.

Preferred:

FamiliaritywithFearFreehandling techniques.

ExperiencewithCornerstoneandInstinct software.
