Four Seasons Veterinary Specialists in Loveland, CO is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (Cardiology) to join our fast-paced specialty and emergency team. You will work closely with cardiologists, perform ECGs and echocardiograms, and support patient care and client communication.

We offer a competitive pay range of $21.00–$34.90 per hour along with comprehensive benefits and ongoing professional growth opportunities in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with at least 2 years in veterinary care.
• Proficiency with ECGs and echocardiograms and cardiology procedures.
• Strong client communication and teamwork within a multi-specialty team.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments and procedures for the cardiologist.
• Restrain animals for exams, record vitals and histories.
• Obtain CBCs, blood smears, urine and feces samples as needed.
• Enter charges and maintain treatment software records.
• Communicate with referring veterinarians and clients about care plans.

DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Skills

ScheduleappointmentsandmedicalproceduresfortheCardiologist.

Performappropriateanimalrestraintforexamsandrecordfindingsontheexamform.

Accurately acquire and record temperatures, pulses, respirations, weights and take patienthistoriesandmaintainpatientrecordsbyrecordingallconversationswithclientin patient file.

Performvenipuncture,catheterization,runningCBCsandlookingatbloodsmears.

Obtainlaboratorysamplesincludingurineandfeces.

Prepareappropriatelabrequestformsandsubmitappropriatesamples.

Preparespecimenstobesenttoreferencelaboratories,shiplabworkto,andtake results from reference laboratories.

Checklaboratoryvaluestomakesuretheyarewithinnormallimitsandnotify the Cardiologist if they are not.

Administerinjectable,oral,anddermalmedications.

Giveinjectionsinaccordancewithgovernmentregulationsanddoctor’sorders.

Updatepatientstatusdailyatrequiredtimes.

AccuratelyacquirebloodpressureandoxygensaturationreadingsandEKGtracings.

Maintainlogsforcontrolledsubstances.

Enterchargesinthecomputerandprepareestimates.

KnowledgeofAmbulatoryECGplacementandrecording.

Stocksuppliesandcleanandmaintaincardiologysuite,equipment,andinduction.

Accuratelyfilloutprescriptionformsandplaceprescriptionordersatoffsitepharmacies for new and refill prescriptions.

Communicatewithreferringveterinarians.

Communicatewithclientsregardingthemedicalstatusoftheirpetandprovideaccurate information to them regarding procedure for home care and hospital protocols.

Enterpatientstatusdailyinthetreatmentsoftware.

Enterallchargesaccruedbyinpatientsandoutpatients.

Admitanddischargepatients.

Assistwithoutpatientandinpatientappointments.

Reviewmedicalrecordsandnotestodiscernthenatureofthevisitandanytestsor procedures that may be needed. Keep Cardiologist apprised of potential problems.

Assistandpreparesuppliesforoutpatientappointmentsandphysicalexaminations.

CommunicationSkills

Haveapositiveattitudeandwillingtolearnnewprocedures.

Keepdoctorsinformedofthepatient'sconditionandanypotentialproblems.

Communicate with clients regarding the medical information of their pet, provide accurateinformationtothemregardingprocedures,followup/homecare,hospital policies, diagnostics, and basic disease processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Minimum2yearsrecentveterinaryexperience

Skilledinanimalhandling,lifting,restraint,andabletostandforextendedperiods.

ProficientinIVcatheterplacement,blooddraws,labwork,anesthesiamonitoring, medication administration, and triage.

Solidknowledgeofveterinaryproceduresandterminology;committedtocontinued learning.

UnderstandingofOSHA,DEA,andanimalhealthregulations.

Preferred:

FamiliaritywithFearFreehandlingtechniques.

ExperiencewithCornerstoneandInstinctsoftware.
